Russian River Valley

2018 Heather Pinot Noir
Initially the wine shows fresh underbrush and woodsy elements including bay laurel. The fruit components are juicy and fresh including rhubarb, black raspberry, cranberry and cherry. A wonderful harmony in the this wine with a mouth watering freshness and balanced chewy tannins. Look out for the liquorice and black tea on the finish of this complex layered wine.
In 2017 we were excited to begin working with the outstanding Greywacke Vineyard located high up in the hills along Westside Road in the Russian River Valley. A beautiful, secluded vineyard on the north end of the AVA, it is in a sweet spot where there is a cooling fog influence after the heat of the day. The unique microclimate, red soil and the hilly terrain accentuate good drainage which helps produce wines with beautiful intensity.
The vineyard was picked at the very end of August and the grapes were fermented on the skins for 12 days prior to being pressed off to tank. The wine was racked to 100% neutral French oak barrels before aging for 14 months and bottling unfiltered and unfined.
Food Pairing Notes
Duck confit would pair wonderfully well. Especially, sitting at the counter of Girl and the Fig watching the world go by in Sonoma.
