2016 Heather Pinot Noir
Heather Pinot Noir greets you with a lovely spice aroma which continues to lift as the wine opens up in the glass. The palate is velvety and expansive, highlighting ripe cherries, black tea notes and a smooth, earthy finish.
Located at an elevation of 1,000 ft and nestled in the southern part of the Bennett Valley appellation, Steiner Ranch gets plenty of fog and wind. The vines enjoy the cool days and the red volcanic soil, producing a robust style of Pinot Noir. Multiple clones are planted in the vineyard and in 2016 we selected clones 115, 667 and Pommard.
The vineyard was picked three times with the Pommard clone first, the 115 clone next and followed later with the 667 clone. The different grapes were fermented separately and the juice was on the skins for 14 days prior to being pressed off to tank where the wine was integrated before racking to barrel. The wine was racked to 100% neutral French oak barrels before aging for 14 months and bottling unfiltered and unfined.

Savory and earthy dishes such as duck confit with Chanterelles, white cheddar polenta and hard cheeses.

Unique Pinot Noir that stands out from the others you might be used to having! This is a "gulit-free" wine that you just cannot stop drinking once it hits our mouth, so enjoyable!
